We're supporting National Apprenticeship Week: 5-11 February

National Apprenticeship Week, which is running from 5-11 February, is an opportunity to recognise the achievements of apprentices and the positive impact they make to communities, businesses, and the wider economy.

The theme this year is #skillsforlife, which will look at how apprenticeships can help people to develop the skills and knowledge they need for a rewarding career, and help employers to develop a workforce with future ready skills.

What is an apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship helps people that are looking to build a new career to learn and earn at the same time.

It is a government funded programme that offers paid work experience alongside studying and training in a classroom.

Anyone over the age of 16 that is not currently in full-time education can apply for an apprenticeship, and they will receive a qualification once they have finished their course.

What’s on at Thirteen for National Apprenticeship Week?

• Apprenticeship stories: ongoing throughout the week

Hear from our apprentices, as well as colleagues that have completed an apprenticeship, about their experience and how it has supported them with their career goals.

• Community project volunteering: Monday 5-Tuesday 6 February

Our apprentices will be getting involved in volunteering opportunities during National Apprenticeship Week, so they can learn new skills while making a difference in Thirteen’s communities. Keep an eye on our website and social media to find out more.

• Promoting apprenticeships at Middlesbrough college: Thursday 8 February

Our people team and employability team will be attending Middlesbrough college for a special event to help promote our apprenticeship offer at Thirteen.

• Apprenticeship celebration event: Friday 9 February
