Young parents, School View in Durham
We offer accommodation and support for young parents, couples and pregnant women aged 16-25 near Durham who need support to live independently.
The project at School View includes nine two-bedroom furnished flats with access to a communal lounge, kitchen and laundry.
Staff are available between 9am and 8pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 4pm at weekends.
All customers have their own personalised support programme agreed with their key worker, and we offer support on a wide range of issues.
The independent living programme aims to equip our residents with the knowledge and understanding of how to successfully manage a tenancy. The programme will be completed with every resident throughout their time in supported housing with the aim for them to have a successful transition into living independently. The programme covers:
- personal reflection
- money management
- safeguarding
- health and safety at home
- anti-social behaviour
- employability
- and housing.

Moving on from the project
When people are ready to move onto live independently, we support you with this transition. The service works closely with social landlords, local authority housing teams and private landlords in order to offer choice when residents are ready to move on.
